The Pit Bar BQ dates all the way back to 1965.  Original owner Tommy Little wanted to create a place for travelers to and from the Everglades to go to get cold drinks and some good food.  Located in what was then just swampland in the middle of nowhere on Tamimi Trail near Krome Avenue, The Pit Bar BQ was born.  Over the course of the years The Pit became a Miami landmark.  People came from all around to get some good old fashioned barbeque.

Sadly Tommy passed on back in October but the new owners Sonia & Michael Gonzalez are making every effort to continue his legacy, which is the place to gather with family and friends to enjoy delicious food.  They don’t want to lose the authenticity and originality that made The Pit what it is today.  Instead they are trying to keep things with the original style but adding new flavor to the place.  Which is a place to go to get delicious food at a reasonable price in a rustic, western style setting.

The secret to their success is their homemade basting sauce and the Black Jack Oak that is used to grill the meats.  This produces the sweet, smoky, fall off the bone flavor that is what The Pit is all about.  Other great homemade items that The Pit serves are slaw, potato salad, baked beans, and Key Lime pie.  One thing that has been added to The Pit's Menu is the Latin Flavor!  In addition to the traditional Bar B Q favorites, now you can order up a platter of Churrasco Steak or Masitas de Puerco with Arroz Moro, Yuca con mojo, Tostones and Tamalitos en su hoja, as well as our new Shimp Basket with fries and slaw.

Wether you choose to dine indoors or out under our newly built Tiki Huts, The Pit, with their generous portions is sure to satisfy any hardy appetite!  Enjoy Live Music, dancing and Sing A Long every Saturday and Sunday Pony Rides for the kids (weekends: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.) "Biker's Night" is held EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT *2 for 1 draft beer 5p.m. to 7 p.m.  "Antique Car Show" held the 3RD SATURDAY OF EACH MONTH.  Enjoy live music, $2 draft beer, lots of fun and prizes!!  Come 'n out, get some great 'cue, cold beer and enjoy some awesome looking wheels.  "FRIDAY NIGHT HAPPY HOUR" from 5 pm. to 7 p.m.  Bring your dancing shoes and enjoy LIVE MUSIC & 2 for 1 draft beer.
